Church Staff (alpha order)

Geoff Bottomley - Custodian -- E-mail him
Geoff Bottomley

Geoff conscientiously keeps everything "ship-shape" for us each week. An all- round pleasant person, Geoff hails from Barrie but is now a resident of London.

if you are involved in a variety of activities at FSA, he is definitely someone you want to get to know.

Kate Crawford - Minister of Worship & Administration -- E-mail her
Kate Crawford

Kate has managed to put the two great Londons of the world together. She was born in London, England, but grew up in Toronto, Ontario, where she completed her PhD in church history.  She has lived and ministered in communities in Nova Scotia and St. John's, Newfoundland before coming to this London and to First-St. Andrew's. Kate treasures the opportunity to preach the gospel and to lead God's people in worship regularly.

She is the mother of two children, Martha and Norah, who keep her busy outside of church time!  Along with "Sophie the wonder dog," they enjoy exploring and doing things together as a family.

Valerie DeJong - Custodian
Valerie DeJong Valerie is our weekend custodian. She is a also a soloist in our choir which makes her a unique contributor to FSA and much appreciated by all.

Tom Hiscock - Part-time, Short-term Supply Minister - E-mail him
Rev Tom Hiscock

Born in Michigan, the Rev. Tom Hiscock graduated with a degree in science in education.  He then started off his career as a teacher.  But in 1971 his life took a radical turn.  He and his wife, Connie, emigrated to Canada where Tom returned to school at Queen’s to obtain his master of divinity degree.  Following ordination and after holding several ministerial charges, he came to serve here in London at Wesley-Knox United Church.  At the end of June 2011 he retired and is now temporarily with us.  We are fortunate to have him in place at this time of transition for FSA.

Debra Low - Church Administrator --E-mail her
Debra Low

Born and raised in London, Debra has recently returned to live in the city having made a number of stops along the way. Debra’s journey has taken her to the Middle East on a Tour of Duty with the U.N., for which she was decorated, the Arctic, and southern and central Ontario, serving in a variety of financial and administrative positions.

Debra firmly believes that there is nothing like ‘a good hike, a good book, a good dog by your side’; thankfully, she enjoys all three. Debra shares her life, home and heart with her partner, Rev. Karen Low, 11 year old Kelly – a Champion Whippet, 9 year old Truffles – an exuberant Chocolate Lab, and 15 year old St. Elmo’s Fire – the Tabby Cat who keeps the house in order.

A Reiki Master, Debra continues to explore a variety of spiritual expressions, and is an avid volunteer, committed to human rights issues and community involvement.

Paul Merritt - Director of Music -- E-mail him
Paul Merritt

Paul is a native of Thunder Bay and graduated from Western with a BMusic (Hon Performance) in1975. He spent nine years at Central United Church in Moncton as director of music. While there he was an organ recitalist and choral clinician throughout the Atlantic provinces. He also found time to direct a choir and taught advanced choral conducting at Mount Allison University.

In 1984 Paul came to be director of music at FSA and has not only inspired us with the quality of music on Sunday mornings but has also given the Music at First-St. Andrew's program the excellent reputation it enjoys today.

With the help of his wife, Enid, he also provides leadership to the budding young musicians of the congregation. He is also on faculty at the Don Wright Faculty of Music at Western.

Maureen Scarborough - Administrative Assistant/Receptionist -- E-mail her
Maureen Scarborough

It's Maureen Scarborough's warm smile and word of welcome that you will encounter as you first come in the door of the church during the week. Maureen worked as an administrative assistant in Toronto prior to moving to London (from Scarborough!) in 1975 with her husband. She worked at Sterling Fuels prior to working for the deputy registrar at UWO and coordinated the word processing centre at the registrar's office. After being home with her children for ten years, she worked for Financial Success Strategies Inc. before joining FSA.
